Ethos and Charism
The ethos and charism of the school express the assumptions, beliefs and values that the Catholic Christian community shares. They are reflected in what is done, how it is done and who is doing it. A school communicates its distinctive identity through its ethos and charism, which find expression in its religious values, culture, rituals and practices.
Religious Values and Culture
- Weekly "All School" prayer assemblies, highlighting and contextualising the Benedictine charisms to the wider community.
- Office displays reflecting classroom learning within the Re curriculum.
- The placement of the Benedictine Cross within classrooms and in highly visible areas throughout the school.
- Iconography in and around the school.
- St Benedict's Pastoral Care Coordinator's "welcoming cuppa" after the weekly prayer assembly as a representation of hospitality and community to parents.
Rituals and Practices
- Daily PAX time, when all members of the community stop for two minutes of each day to allow God to come into their hearts.
- W.A.L.K. behaviour management practices, aligned to our school motto (Walk In God's Ways) highlighting We Respect, Act Responsibly, Learn Together and Keep Safe.
- School songs (lower and middle/upper) written to reflect our school ethos and sung after each student assembly.
- St Benedict's Feast Day celebrations as a school community, where students participate in activities across varying year levels.
